An Evening at the Piano Works

Located in the West End next to the Gillian Lynne Theatre, Piano Works is a brilliant place to relax, dine and unwind both before and after a show. A singer and pianist serenades you with your song requests (you can suggest songs on little slips of card) from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. Whether it is celebration shoutouts or audience engagement, the performer ensures that your visit feels personal to you. Occasionally jumping in on vocals are the incredibly talented service staff. The light dinner entertainment is perfect as a backdrop to your meal, with the piano and vocals adding a certain elegance to the meal.

A preset two course menu is available for £20, providing a collection of starters and mains that will be served quickly to ensure that you make it to your show. I'd ordered the chicken goujons and the fish pie, both of which I really enjoyed. From 8.30pm until 1am (2.30am on Friday and Saturdays), the venue transforms into a dance floor with a well stocked bar. With a live band and additional performers taking to the stage, the atmosphere is electric and had most of the room up on their feet dancing (although you can still sit at a table and just enjoy the music). The venue also has a photo booth so that you can take (and make) your memories with you.

The performers and band are brilliant, making improvised arrangements on the spot. Ranging from the classic dance hits such as ABBA and Queen, to the more recent hits of Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. With the stage and performers set in the centre of a circular room, you feel included and pulled into the momentum of the evening. The band worked together incredibly well, managing to bring a powerful momentum to the emotional songs of Adele and bring the classic British cheer of "Sweet Caroline". Alicia Corrales, who joined as lead vocalist with the band, was particularly phenomenal. I'd previously seen her in Public the Musical at the Edinburgh Fringe last year and was delighted to see her perform again. Located in the heart of the West End, Piano Works are open to song suggestions from musicals as well as pop and rock songs. Cards are provided on the tables to fill in and hand to the staff to submit your song choices. There's additional space to request any particular celebration shoutouts.

The staff are really friendly, checking in on you frequently, and ensuring that everything was running smoothly. The dinner tables are well attended to, and they were incredibly helpful and patient in answering questions. Offering suggestions to our table and others, and being jovial and friendly with song suggestions, it's clear that the staff love being a part of the fantastic nights at the Piano Works

Piano Works is a wonderful night out, with a guarantee of an excellent event. A wonderful live musical event with excellent food, brilliant and talented staff and a night to remember. For more information, you can head to the website here.
